Confirm the Thermostat Settings

Make sure the system is set to cooling and that the target temperature is below the current indoor temperature. If the fan is set to “On” instead of “Auto,” it may keep moving room-temperature air between cooling cycles, which can make the system seem less effective.

Check the Air Filter

A heavily loaded filter can restrict airflow. Compare the filter with the replacement schedule recommended for your system and household conditions. If it is visibly dirty or overdue, replacing it is a reasonable first step.

Look at Supply and Return Airflow
