A boiler recall deserves a separate conversation from a routine winter tune-up. On October 29, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall involving 4,726 NTI and HTP residential gas boilers, with another 2,261 sold in Canada.
Which boilers are included?
The notice identifies specific serial ranges in the NTI FTVN and TFTN series and HTP EFTU series. The rating plate is on the boiler’s left side. A matching brand alone does not establish whether a unit is recalled: compare both model and serial number with the CPSC model table and identification photographs.
What owners should do
CPSC directs owners to stop using affected boilers and contact Ariston for a free repair by a certified technician. The notice says people who must keep using a boiler while awaiting repair should have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. That is not a statement that continued operation is risk-free.
The reported failure involves a cracked condensate dish, gas buildup and possible ignition that can force the front cover off. Do not open the cabinet or attempt the recall repair yourself.
Prepare one clear service request
When you call, describe the request as a recall check rather than only a heating-service appointment. Keep a note of the model, serial number, appointment date and any case reference the company gives you. If a landlord or property manager handles heating repairs, send them the official notice so the request reaches the person arranging service.
Use NTI’s official recall page to reach the remedy information. For a separate household check, see our carbon monoxide alarm placement guide. Alarm placement does not replace the recall repair.
